Cloud Quakers

Cloud Quakers One Year Anniversary

Cloud Quakers was founded about a year ago, in December 2018. We just started, and met on Sundays, and formed an online community, on Zoom. It has been very good for me to have a Quaker community, because I'm isolated, and need to reach out and know people are there.

Zoom seems to be a formidable barrier to some people, although it's easy to install and easy to use, much more user-friendly than skype, for example. For that reason, we've remained small. We are not busting at the seams.

There are several new things we can do and contemplate, though. First is the revival of this blog (starting today) as a place where people's writings can be read and contemplated. I am making it more user-friendly, adding pop art, and reorganizing as we speak.

Some of our other goals are loftier, but may yet happen. One is a zoom Quaker Music Festival. Another is to do the kinds of things meetings do: have minutes, business meeting, discussion, etc. All of this is possible, but still on the horizon.

Stay with us and stay tuned. If you want anything published here, speak up. It is now a forum for interesting articles about Quakerism. Opinions are not necessarily "mine" or "ours" but hopefully readers will take it for what it is: a forum to read and discuss things of interest to the Quaker community. A further note: though we, founders, authors, members, etc., have been associated with certain branches of Quakerism (FGC, FUM, Conservative, etc.) we do not use this site to promote or represent any one of them. Rather, we welcome Quakers from all branches, and anyone else who is interested in Quakerism, to read, contribute, and comment.

To join us at Cloud Quakers on any given Sunday, download Zoom (takes a few minutes), and then dial our number (373 452 424), and make sure this happens at about 6 pm US Mountain time (7 Central, 8 Eastern, 6 Pacific), and just say hello. We will welcome you and hope you join us as much as possible.

I put my feeling about illuminaria (below) here , but the most important thing to say is, it's not really Quakerly, nor is it related to...
